A great thing for gardening...
Windy City Harvest
Chicago Botanic Garden's
Urban Agriculture Program
February 1st at 6:30 p.m., EP Public Library
The calendar has turned to 2018
and the Garden Club's programs begin again on February 1st.
Our February presenter is Rafael Arredondo from the Chicago Botanic Garden's urban agriculture program Windy City Harvest. This program attempts to teach sustainable agriculture for the city gardener as well as train diverse groups of students in production oriented urban farming.
In its job-training and education programs it fosters a healthy and sustainable food supply, community service, and economic benefits from learning and practicing good growing and distribution techniques. Rafael is a production supervisor and will talk about how he got involved in the program, what they do, and will give a hands-on demonstration of their methods. Windy City Harvest's workshops are perfect for the small-scale gardener or farmer who wants to make the most of their space.
Join us at 6:30 pm in the library downstairs conference room.
